Detroit Unity Festival celebrates the diversity of Detroit. Detroit Unity is inclusive of all nationalities and welcomes culture. The festival is filled with the aroma of ethnic foods from the Continent, the Caribbean, and the Latino. The day event also features international DJ's spinning Afrobeat, Reggaeton, Soca, Kumpa, Amphiano, Hip hop, and R & B.
The Detroit Unity Festival is free and open to the public.
Each participating organization has a gazebo or tent and will be barbecuing, providing food for it's constituents and friends.
The African Marketplace gives vendors and entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase and sell their products. The African Marketplace will be held at J. W. Westcott Boating Dock within the park.
Performance by local Afrobeat artist, presentations from local African organizations, drumming, and libations will take place during the picnic.
Activities for the children includes face painting, bounce house, playground, splash pad, and an outdoor gym.
The Picnic Afrobeat Ferry Ride is a 2 hour cruise up the Detroit River. The cruise will take you up the Detroit River and cruise back on the Canadian side of the river.
Want to Vendor at Riverside Park? If you sell products and would like to Vendor, the Fee is $60. All vendors are allowed to bring a 6 foot to 8 foot table. *Note....All vendors should obtain a vendors license from the City of Detroit to be in compliance.
The Vendor Fee for Food/Alcohol vendors is $100. Please bring your own set-up, not to exceed a 8 foot table.

Food truck vendors is $200. All food truck vendors must be in compliance with the City of Detroit.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and fund our mission. All organizations/businesses who wish to support and obtain a shelter at the park can register here.

Volunteer for the Detroit African Unity Picnic! We need volunteers to assist with guest services, direct traffic, and help clean the park after the event. To volunteer please contact Teresa Virge. 313-465-4016
Each participating country or organization who which to set up a tent must register. Registration insures a permit to set-up. We are asking for a donation $60 to set up a 10 by 20 tent. All of the Gazebo has been pre-registered for the picnic.
Cruise the Detroit River during the picnic. The cruise is 2 hours. The boat departs from J. W. Westcott Boat Dock at 6:00 pm and will return by 8:00 pm. Cocktails and beverage will be provided.
Vendor at the African Unity Picnic. Set-up is at 10 am and shut down is at 6:00 pm.
